Malaysian opposition leader Anwar Ibrahim has rejoined parliament after a decade-long absence following convictions for sodomy and corruption.
Anwar, who is facing a new sodomy allegation, was formally declared the leader of the three-party opposition alliance after he took the oath of office. Anwar won a sweeping victory in a by-election on Tuesday. The 61-year-old has been trying to make his political comeback since a ban on seeking public office expired in April.
